The 2nd Annual Yachats Pride event is next weekend and should be even bigger and more fun than last year! Here’s a link to the event on June 2 & 3. http://yachatspride.org/

During the Pride Festival PFLAG and Welcoming Churches are sharing an information table in the picnic shelter behind Yachats Commons. We will be there from 10:30am-5:30pm on Sat. and from 11:30-2:30 on Sunday.

And we invite you to come to the June 13 monthly PFLAG meeting at 6 pm at St. Stephen’s in Newport to help plan a 10th Anniversary Celebration for PFLAG Oregon Central Coast

Happy May Day and celebration of spring and more hours of sunlight!! Thanks to Nel Ward, our volunteer editor, we have another excellent edition of LGBTQ news–from our local area on the Oregon Coast to national and international people and issues.

Oregon Central Coast PFLAG Scholarships Deadline: April 30, 2018

DESCRIPTION Oregon Central Coast PFLAG GSA Scholarships are awarded to honor and encourage Lincoln County students for their service to the lesbian/gay/bisexual/transgender/queer community. Scholarships may be used for post-secondary education at accredited institutions – colleges, universities, and trade schools.

REQUIREMENTS Before you apply, review the complete eligibility requirements. – Have demonstrated service to the LGBTQ community (applicants of all sexual orientations and gender identities are eligible); and – Volunteered or worked for an organization (such as a GSA, PFLAG, or Upstander’s Club) that serves the LGBTQ community – Have finished high school (or equivalent) in Lincoln County, Oregon – Have been accepted or currently attend an accredited postsecondary institution—college, university, or vocational school.

EVALUATION LGBTQ community service is the primary evaluation criterion. We will also consider leadership qualities, hardship, or special circumstances, as well as academic achievement, so include those in your essay if they relate to you.

NUMBER OF AWARDS 1-8 AWARD AMOUNT $250-$1000
